It’s cold outside, so here’s a recipe for instant pot beef stew that will be sure to warm your dog up after a long walk.
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/4 pounds extra-lean beef stew meat
- 3/4 pound baby golden potatoes
- 2 large carrots
- 2 large celery stalks
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 4 1/2 cups no-salt beef broth, divided (without garlic and onions which are toxic to dogs)
Instructions
1. Cut beef into 3/4-inch cubes and sauté using Instant Pot’s sauté setting on high until evenly browned.
2. Dice potatoes, celery and carrots into 1/2-inch pieces.
3. Add veggies and 4 cups beef broth to the Instant Pot, mixing with the sautéed beef until well combined. Close and lock lid, adjust pressure to high and set time for 30 minutes.
4. Select high sauté setting and bring to a boil. Whisk together flour and remaining broth and add to stew. Stir frequently until slightly thickened (about 3-4 minutes).
5. Stir in peas until heated through, about 1 minute more.
6. Turn off Instant Pot and ladle stew into a bowl. Cool before serving.
