Breed Origin

The Cavapoo breed was created by breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with Poodles. The Cavapoo’s genetic mix of adorable and intelligent make it the perfect companion, which is why it’s become one of the most popular dog breeds in recent years.

Physical Characteristics

Cavapoos are typically a small breed of dog, ranging from 6-20 lbs. Their coats come in straight, curly, or wavy, and in various colors. Cavappos also have a distinct round face with large eyes and floppy ears. Cavapoos tails are usually docked at birth, an inhumane practice that is unfortunately still done. Cavapoos have become popular for is hypoallergenic qualities and minimal shedding.

Temperament

Cavapoos are very friendly, affectionate, gentle, and love being around people. They’re the perfect dog for families, or as an emotional support animal. When it comes to training, their Poodle intelligence genes give them a big advantage. Cavapoos are super easy to train. Cavapoos are also known for their calm disposition. Additionally, they are able to adapt to new environments pretty easily, curious to learn about the space around them.

Tips For Raising A Cavapoo

As they are highly intelligent, you’ll want to make sure your Cavapoo has enough mental and physical stimulation. Using interactive puzzle toys is a great way to keep their mind sharp. A regular grooming schedule is also important to have if you own a Cavapoo. Their fur can mat and cause them pain if not brushed and bathed at least once monthly.
